Members of The Elders at their board meeting in South Africa, May 2022.

The Elders’ 2022 Annual Review is now available to download. It highlights our activities and achievements from the past year including: the visit by Ban Ki-moon and Juan Manuel Santos to meet President Zelenskyy in Kyiv; Mary Robinson’s engagement on climate justice with youth activists, grassroots communities and political leaders in Africa; public and private discussions with members of the UN Security Council on global crises; and a celebration of the organisation’s 15th anniversary in Cape Town, South Africa.

In the words of Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders:

“The force of Madiba’s mandate resonated with even greater power in 2022 as the world struggled with a plethora of existential threats. From Russia’s savage war on Ukraine to the continuing toll exacted by COVID-19, the floods, droughts and ferocious fires exacerbated by the climate crisis and the breakdown in diplomacy around nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, the need for ethical, bold and compassionate leadership has never been greater.”
